New Block Copolymer Method

Congrats to Ashley, James, and the rest of the team, including our collaborators Andy Schmitt & Mahesh Mahanthappa at Wisconsin, on the publication of our paper “Microstructure of Copolymers Formed by the Reagentless, Mechanochemical Remodeling of Homopolymers via Pulsed Ultrasound” in the inaugural issue of ACS Macro Letters. The paper shows that mechanical force, delivered by “shouting” at a polymer solution (at 20 kHz, high power), can transform homopolymers into well ordered block copolymers that are sufficiently ordered to microphase separate into lamellar phases when annealed.
