A Little Proton Goes a Long Way…
Congratulations (and a Merry Christmas acceptance!) to Yangju on his latest JACS paper, describing a new mechanoacid design that blends ease of synthesis, thermal stability, and ease of activation to create mechanically coupled acid release in bulk materials. Yangju uses the acid to demonstrate how mechanically initiated bimolecular kinetics can be used as a sort of dynamic “time stamp” that reports not only whether and where, but when a triggering mechanical event occurred.
